We listen, act, and transform
My approach to counseling is based on my fundamental belief in the actualizing ability of people and the interconnectedness of the individual and the family. This philosophy is shaped by my perspective regarding the importance of intimacy, attachment and emotional connectivity, as well as positive communication. It has been my experience that many problems individuals, couples, and families experience are the result of unhealthy, maladaptive communication patterns. This may negatively impact how we form bonds and relate intimately to others. My goal for therapy is fostering personal growth, facilitating the realization of individual potential, enhancing communication, and strengthening interpersonal relationships. Working from a humanistic-family systems counseling framework, my professional experience includes providing individual, group, and marriage/family counseling to adolescents and adults from varying cultural backgrounds with treatment issues such as depression, anxiety, and personality disorders, addictions/recovery, trauma, grief, sexual abuse, marital conflict, domestic violence, and self-mutilation/injury.
